Living slap bang in the middle of Dublin city centre, only the most hopelessly naive person would expect to find much peace and quiet. This is particularly true when you live in an apartment block that has the acoustics of a Gothic cathedral, and where the sound of a dog wagging its tail in the apartment upstairs travels through the whole building and is distorted and amplified to sound like a small aircraft landing on your terrace.
