Winners of last night's Screen Actors Guild awards. These gongs add a few twists. Best Actor is tightening up, with Penn edging out Rourke to win his first SAG award. Similarly, Streep's victory as Best Actress, and Winslet's in Supp Actress both complicates the Lead Actress category at the Oscars, and leaves the Supp Oscar race completely open. Regarding the latter, the BAFTA result will probably hold a lot of sway, but as for Supp Actor, the other four might as well not turn up on the night: it's Ledger's.

I am beginning to dislike Slumdog, just like I was beginning to dislike Winslet after her double GG win. How could it beat Milk to Best Ensemble? Really??? Thank God Dev Patel didn't get an Oscar nomination...or I think I might even start rooting for the real underdog, The Reader.
I wanted Milk to win Ensemble too - and having watched it for a second time on Saturday, I think I want it to win Best Picture at the Oscars too. I love Slumdog too, but I guess it's just cos Milk triggered something in me (like it should with any gay person that watches it).
I don't think the gay support would encourage the Academy to vote Milk over Slumdog. Unfortunately Harvey Weinstein's support with The Reader is more likely to sway them...and that won't happen. (Or else I will lose my faith in cinema as I did when A Beauitful Mind beat Moulin Rouge!, LOTR and Gosford Park to the Oscar...damn silly Academy!).
Oh my god if The Reader wins Best Picture, I will burn every cinema in Dublin to the ground. Or something like that
